Our Purpose

Our purpose Portfolio, due to what I have experience during my adolescence years with people that are poor or who did not have what it take to be heard I use that experience now to bring about plan for all. Adding now the new experience that lead to our corporation being established. I Garth Thompson being the concern individual that I am, Is using my non profit to reach the global audience  hoping to get their attention and to those who can help to make a great change. The purpose is to make this world  a more extraordinary place to be and to live life the fullest.

 

 To Communities you are  in a corporation where you shall be for ever. My peers as a child could tell you that we had fun, when we were growing up and we have done things that made us wonder now as we think back then. I was determined as a child to do things, if it was sports, churches or schools or events act as adults we have done that as that is what allow now to face the world. We knew at some point in our life we would all grow up to face the real world.

 

I have always think about what I would do the next day and so after school I would gather my peers and pretended I was a school principal or a pastor and what I had learned from these roles I would repeat with my peers. Now concert was one of my biggest things and raising funds as well was in my DNA, on top of that I was always ready to start a show at any given time. In life as we do things as a child we sometimes never anticipate where it would take us in life. Still every part we play as when we were young only prepare you for what you will undertake in life. Readers I am giving you a footprint, here, so continue to follow my story?

 

When I was growing up all I wanted to do was music and at one point in my life I wanted to be a minister of religion, and at other times a singer and then something else. I was on a path to take on a big mind thinking as there was something telling to do something for society. But but I still could not figure it out or what direction to take, not until I was migrated to the United States of America. When I was migrated to the United States I saw that dream. But not before have I cross all the t's and dots, not before then did I had to full kit, not until I went to America

I was born in Shaw castle. When I was five months I went to live with my grandparents in woodland Gardens. My grandmother and grandfather install values in me that I treasure and which have made me who I am today. I attended Maldon primary and Maldon jr secondary. At the age of 14 I leaf maroon town and resided with Aunty Dee and Uncle. Mr Lloyd Young Senior or uncle Lloyd as I call him, he played a very important role in my life. With being raised by my grandparents and the little time spent around uncle Lloyd my entire life change from that moment. Migrating to America was the new beginning for a idealistic dream approach.

 

Again I have thought of being a minister of religion at one point of my life. And other thoughts of what I wanted to become came to my mind after watching the many news on television that was about atrocity being done to children, girls with female genital mutilation issues and in humane act that stems from mutilating girls. With the awareness of infibulation that causes great pain. The other issue was little boys being soldiers. I decided then to do something for humanity.  It was the death of my grand Parents ethlyn and Albert Thompson and other family and friends that help me to decide what form of contribution to society my help to humanity would take.

 

On one of my visits to maroon town I went up to the Health Centre with a friend. There and then I realized the inadequacies there in many areas. This encouraged me to form a corporation which I believe will help poor people of all ages, sexes and creeds not only in Jamaica but in other countries as well if and when possible.

 

So the corporation which is a nonprofit was founded first in America then a license was obtained for its operation in Jamaica. It was decided then that our first project would be the Maroon Town health centre in our own community. For two years now we have been trying to get the ball rolling we are finally making some progress  thank god!!!

 

So that is why I am here this afternoon to garner your support. One purpose of Garth Charity Projects Inc is to engage in fundraising events for special projects like the upgrading refurbishing etc of the clinic. This meeting is being recorded as a part of a documentary which we hope will help in the fundraising event. The corporation interest is to provide access to better health care for our community and surrounding communities especially people who cannot afford to pay for health care.

 

Currently people when ill have to travel sixteen maybe seventeen miles to Montego Bay to the Cornwall regional hospital with no guarantee of help seeing how the situation is there today. So with the help of the members of the community we're here to try to remedy the situation. Not only will people benefit from the improved facilities of the health Centre but those with needed skills will also benefit financially from the availability of jobs such as masons, carpenters etc.
